Cubic boron nitride (CBN) is a material synthesized by hexagonal boron nitride and a catalyst under high temperature and pressure, and the hardness of this material is second only to diamond in industrial applications, so it is called superhard material.
Hexagonal and cubic boron nitride
The thermal stability of cubic boron nitride is much higher than that of diamond, and it has high chemical stability to iron series metal elements, so cubic boron nitride tools and abrades are widely used in cutting and grinding applications of iron products with excellent performance.
There are two types of cubic boron nitride: monocrystalline and polycrystalline sintered. By controlling hexagonal boron nitride and catalyst under high temperature and pressure to obtain a single crystal, usually the cubic boron nitride used in industrial production is mostly black, brown and amber, and the particles are usually less than 1mm.
