嘉定Diamond Powder Storage and Contamination Control in Workshops

Diamond powder is easily contaminated and hard to clean once contamination spreads. In a workshop that handles several grit sizes and grades, storage and handling discipline matters as much as the grading equipment itself. A few simple rules prevent most quality complaints.

Keep each grit in a sealed, labeled container. Diamond powder should be stored in clean glass or plastic jars with tight lids, marked with grit size, grade, batch number and date. Open containers left on benches collect dust and airborne grit, which is exactly the kind of contamination that ruins a fine polish.

Separate coarse and fine work areas. Airborne particles from coarse grit travel further than most operators expect. Diamond powder handling for fine grades should take place in a dedicated area, ideally under a fume hood or in a clean bench, with tools reserved for that zone only.

Use dedicated tools and clean them between batches. Spatulas, weighing boats and sieves should be single-use or thoroughly cleaned with alcohol and dried before switching grit. A brush used on 40 micron powder will carry residue into a 1 micron batch and cause scratching that is difficult to trace back.

Record every movement of material. A simple log of batch number, quantity taken, operator and purpose makes traceability possible when a customer reports a problem. Diamond powder that cannot be traced to a batch cannot be investigated, and unresolved complaints tend to repeat.

Train new staff before they handle fine powder. Most contamination events come from habit rather than carelessness, so demonstrate the correct sequence once and have the trainee repeat it. Reviewing storage conditions monthly keeps the discipline visible and prevents slow drift.A monthly walk-through of the storage area catches most problems early.
