CVD diamond does not contain any metal catalyst, so its thermal stability is close to that of natural diamond. Like high temperature and high pressure synthetic polycrystalline diamond, CVD diamond grains are also disordered and have no brittle cleavage plane, so they are isotropic. CVD diamond is now used as a tool material.
